THEDI, in partnership with Mwanza City, is revolutionizing Solid Waste Management (SWM) by integrating community action with modern technology. This collaboration features the development of electronic supportive supervision tools a digital workforce platform that empowers ward and street-level leaders to monitor and manage waste remotely. By moving beyond traditional methods, we are building a data-driven system that ensures accountability and efficiency across the entire waste value chain.
Our approach centers on a participatory model, engaging waste producers, transporters, and recyclers to create a unified coalition for a cleaner city. Through a Training of Trainers (ToT) strategy, we are building local capacity to promote the "4Rs" Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and Segregate helping stakeholders recognize the hidden economic value in waste. This initiative is more than just a cleaning program; it is a movement to protect our environment, create a safer city, and elevate the quality of life for every Mwanza resident.
