Transforming communities through health, environment, and sustainable development initiatives
Tanzania Health Environment and Development Initiatives (THEDI) is a local Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) established in October 2022 under the Non-Governmental Organization Act, 2002, with registration number 00NGO/R/4153. Based in Mwanza, Tanzania, THEDI is committed to partnering with communities and stakeholders to protect, promote, and improve public health and well-being, while contributing to sustainable community development in Tanzania. The organization operates in accordance with its governing constitution and the laws of the United Republic of Tanzania.
The journey of Tanzania Health Environment and Development Initiatives (THEDI) began with a shared vision among a group of Tanzanian professionals who spent years collaborating on various large-scale, donor-funded projects. Driven by a deep commitment to serve their fellow citizens, they officially established THEDI. Their goal was simple yet ambitious: to transform their collective field experience into a locally-led organization that bridges the vital gap between public health, environmental protection, and sustainable development across Tanzania. Today, our strength lies in a diverse and energetic multidisciplinary team of experts. By integrating specialists in Public Health, Environmental Science, Financial and Project Management, ICT, and Monitoring and Evaluation, we tackle complex challenges from every angle. This blend of technical skill and local insight allows us to deliver innovative, data-driven solutions that are as transparent as they are impactful, ensuring a healthier and more sustainable future for both urban and rural communities.
